An old wooden shutter and hollyhocks growing nearby are reminders of a simplier time. This scene is part of an old “summer kitchen” behind a local historical mansion. It’s complete with dirt floors and a fireplace and a lady who wears a bonnet and apron as she reenacts what went on many years ago. One morning for breakfast she brought me out a ham and biscuit that she had just made. That alone was enough to make me want to go back!
